My name is Anthony Nelson, and I’m running for the Maryland House of Delegates to fight for the everyday families who make our communities strong. I know firsthand what it’s like to stretch every dollar, work long hours, and still feel like you’re falling behind. I grew up in a working class family where sacrifice wasn’t a choice, it was a way of life. That experience gave me a deep understanding of the challenges people face and a passion for building solutions that work.

I’ve spent over a decade organizing for change, knocking on doors, making calls, building coalitions, and doing the work behind the scenes to help elect leaders who put people over politics. I’ve volunteered and worked on numerous campaigns at the local, state, and national levels, including President Barack Obama’s historic campaign with Obama for America. Each experience reinforced my belief that real progress is possible when we listen to people and act with purpose.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Behavioral Sciences from Prairie View A&M University, and I’m currently pursuing my Master of Public Administration at Tulane University. My career has spanned various campaigns and private sector operations, giving me the skills to navigate complex systems, solve problems, and lead teams. I’ll bring these skills with me to Annapolis.

I’m proud to live in Bowie and I want to make sure our communities, whether it’s South Laurel, Upper Marlboro, or anywhere in District 23, get the attention, investment, and respect they deserve. That means creating real economic opportunity, supporting small business owners, tackling the rising cost of living, and making sure families can afford to buy homes, send their kids to good schools, and age with dignity.

This campaign is about us, our voices, our values, and our future. I’m running to represent working people, seniors, young professionals, and everyone in between who’s tired of being overlooked and left out of the conversation.

Together, we can bring fresh energy, new ideas, and real accountability to the Maryland House of Delegates.
