MEET ANTHONY

Anthony Nelson is a dedicated community leader and advocate for working families. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Anthony learned early the value of resilience, hard work, and service. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, with a minor in Behavioral Sciences, from Prairie View A&M University, and he is now completing his Master of Public Administration at Tulane University, where he is also pursuing a Masters in Public Administration, with a certification in Economic Development.

Anthony began his career in politics with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, working to elect Don Cazayoux to the U.S. Congress. He later joined Obama for America, helping organize communities in Louisiana and Florida during the historic 2008 presidential campaign. His leadership continued as campaign manager for a gubernatorial candidate, a school board candidate, and several local races. Through these experiences, Anthony developed a deep commitment to grassroots organizing and ensuring that every community has a voice in the political process.

Beyond politics, Anthony has always prioritized service. After Hurricane Katrina, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity to help rebuild homes and restore neighborhoods across New Orleans. He has also volunteered at food banks, advocated for affordable housing, and worked with community organizations to support families in need. He has served on housing boards, civic organizations, and is currently a fellow in James E. Clyburn Leadership Institute.

Anthony and his wife live in Bowie, Maryland, where they are building their future together. They attend First Baptist Church of Glenarden, a spiritual home that reinforces their shared commitment to faith, family, and service. Guided by his campaign vision, Anthony is committed to fighting for housing that families can afford, strong schools, lower utility costs, and thriving small businesses that keep communities strong.
